Trump still sparse on economic policy details

“Trump’s affirmation of his commitment to NATO and his conciliatory tone are to be welcomed, but his speech gives no reason to sound the all-clear. The US president remains vague on his plans for economic policy, such as the tax reform. Both Trump’s tariff plans and the protectionism behind his “America first” slogan stand to jeopardise value chains, stifle innovation and make production more expensive all over the world. The US economy would also suffer from the resulting decline in prosperity and opportunities. German companies are already making an important contribution to strengthening industry and creating jobs in the US.”
