Fortescue Future Industries
Sara Edmonson joined Fortescue in January 2021 as the European Lead for Fortescue Future Industries.
With a focus on delivering FFI’s growth strategy in Europe, Sara’s primary role is to build a strong portfolio of offtake for the green fuels, including hydrogen and ammonia, that will be produced from the company’s key production centres. Sara is also working closely with key European governments, industry and research institutions to identify collaboration opportunities aimed at unlocking a thriving hydrogen economy in Europe and abroad.
Sara has extensive experience in natural gas and the energy markets having been the Chief Executive of two independent listed energy companies for a combined period of 10 years. Until recently, Ms Edmonson was Chairwoman of Associazione Energia Nazionale, an Italian association created to promote sustainable production, transportation and use of domestic energy.
She is fluent in Italian, having previously worked both in Italy and internationally for EY Parthenon and Transaction Advisory Services. During her tenure at EY, Ms Edmonson advised numerous blue-chip corporate clients on transactions in Russia, Romania, Turkey and the US including the US$5 billion acquisition of DRS Technologies by Finmeccanica in 2008.
Ms Edmonson holds an MBA from St John’s University in New York and is completing a Masters in Sustainability Sciences at Harvard University.
