

Bill Anderson
William N. (Bill) Anderson has been a member of the Board of Management of Bayer AG since April 1, 2023, and has served as Bayer’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) since June 1, 2023.
Bill Anderson was born on August 23, 1966, in Ohio, Texas, USA. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas and a Master of Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), both in chemical engineering. He also holds a Master of Science in Management from the MIT Sloan School.
Bill Anderson began his professional career in 1989 at Ethyl Corporation, a U.S. specialty chemicals company, with assignments in Belgium and the Netherlands. In 1995, he joined Raychem Corporation, an American materials science and electronics company. In 1997, Anderson joined Biogen, an American biotechnology company, as a finance manager. He subsequently became General Manager of the company’s UK subsidiary and eventually Vice President of Biogen’s neurology unit. In 2006, he moved to Genentech, one of the pioneers among American biotechnology companies. There, he ultimately served as Senior Vice President of the oncology business.
In 2013, Anderson assumed the role of Head of Global Product Strategy and Chief Marketing Officer at Roche Pharmaceuticals, the parent company of Genentech. In 2016, he returned to Genentech as Head of North American Operations before becoming the company’s CEO in 2017. In 2019, he took on the role of CEO of Roche Pharmaceuticals, headquartered in Switzerland.
Bill Anderson is married and has three adult children.
