Nicola Beer

From 2019 to 2023, she served as Vice President and Member of the European Parliament, focusing on the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy, and the Committee on Foreign Affairs. From 2017 to 2019, she was a member of the German Bundestag. Prior to that, Beer served as a member of the Hessian State Parliament from 1999 to 2009 and from 2014 to 2017, as Hessian Minister of Culture from 2012 to 2014, and as Hessian State Secretary for European Affairs from 2009 to 2012. Before joining the State Parliament, Beer served as a city councilor in her hometown of Frankfurt am Main, where she practiced as an independent attorney until joining the EIB’s Executive Board, with an interruption during her tenure in the Hessian State Government. Before pursuing her studies in Frankfurt, she completed a bilingual German-French high school diploma and trained as a bank clerk.

Beer served as Secretary General of the Free Democrats from 2013 to 2019 and as Deputy Federal Chair from 2019 to 2023.
