Gunnar Groebler

Gunnar Groebler, born in 1972, studied mechanical engineering at RWTH Aachen University. He began his professional career in 1999 in the corporate development department of VEAG Vereinigte Energiewerke AG in Berlin. From 2001 to 2002, Groebler was part of the Group Development project team responsible for founding Vattenfall Europe AG, where he subsequently worked in the Corporate Development department. In 2003, Gunnar Groebler moved to the Group Strategies department at Vattenfall AB in Sweden.

In 2005, he returned to Germany as Head of Procurement at Vattenfall Europe AG. Between 2007 and 2011, Groebler initially headed Corporate Development, later the Mergers & Acquisitions department, and finally the Corporate Development/M&A department at Vattenfall Europe AG, before becoming Head of the Hydro Germany Business Unit. In 2014, he was appointed Chairman of the Management Board of Vattenfall Europe Windkraft GmbH and Head of the Renewables Continental Europe / United Kingdom Business Unit. Starting in 2015, Gunnar Groebler was responsible for the Wind Business Area as a member of the Vattenfall Group Executive Board.
Since May 2021, Gunnar Groebler has been a member of the Executive Board of Salzgitter AG, and has served as its Chairman since July 2021.
