

Harald Nusser
Harald Nusser heads the Global Health and Health Equity division at Merck in Darmstadt. His work focuses on addressing global health challenges—with a particular emphasis on health equity and innovative approaches that deliver long-term benefits for patients and society. He brings extensive experience in the areas of family planning, malaria, HIV, leprosy, and visceral leishmaniasis.
Before joining Merck in June 2024, Harald was responsible for the Global Patient Solutions Team at Gilead. There, he coordinated activities in over 100 low- and middle-income countries and, in collaboration with the WHO, developed strategies to eliminate HIV and visceral leishmaniasis. Previously, he led malaria programs at Novartis that reached over 30 million patients annually.
Earlier in his career, Harald held various strategic roles at Bayer, including work on the development of therapies for thromboembolic diseases and cancer. He also served as Managing Director for Slovakia and, as SVP Cluster Head, was responsible for Bayer’s healthcare business in Southeast Asia, Latin America, and Africa.
