Cornelius Riese has been Chairman of the Board of Management of DZ BANK AG, the umbrella organization for all cooperative banks in Germany, since July 2024.

Born in Heidelberg in 1975, he studied business administration at the University of Mannheim, earning a Diplom-Kaufmann degree. In 2005, he received his doctorate from Chemnitz University of Technology.

From 1999 to 2006, Riese worked at Accenture in strategic consulting for financial services providers. In 2007, he joined what is now DZ HYP AG as a division head. In May 2009, Riese moved to DZ BANK AG as Head of Corporate Staff (General Secretariat / Investments / Strategy). Since 2013, he has been a member of the Executive Board with responsibility for Finance, Strategy, and Controlling.
As Co-CEO of DZ BANK AG, Riese’s focus is on the holding company activities of the DZ BANK Group.
