Christian Sewing has been a member of the Executive Board since January 1, 2015, and has served as Chairman of the Executive Board since April 2018.
Christian Sewing joined Deutsche Bank in 1989. From January to June 2015, he was responsible for Legal, the Incident Management Group, and Group Audit on the Executive Board; he then assumed responsibility for the Private and Corporate Clients division (including Postbank) until April 2018. From June 2013 to December 2014, he headed Group Audit.

Prior to that, he held a number of leadership positions in the Risk division—not only in Frankfurt but also at locations such as Singapore, Toronto, Tokyo, and London. From 2012 to 2013, he served as Deputy Chief Risk Officer and, prior to that, from 2010 to 2012, as Chief Credit Officer of the bank. From 2005 to 2007, he was a member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Genossenschafts-Hypothekenbank.

Education
Before pursuing his part-time studies at the Bankakademie in Bielefeld and Hamburg, he completed an apprenticeship as a bank clerk at Deutsche Bank in 1989.
