

Christian Otto Erbe
Christian Otto Erbe is the CEO of the Erbe Group. The Erbe Group (Erbe Elektromedizin GmbH) is a family-owned, globally active medical technology company that develops, manufactures, and distributes surgical systems for professional use across a wide range of medical specialties. The company’s products are used in hospitals and specialist practices worldwide. The Erbe Group is regarded as a pioneer in the field of electrosurgery and boasts an extensive, innovation-driven technology portfolio.
Christian Otto Erbe represents the fifth generation of the owner family to lead the company. He joined the company in 1992 and initially took charge of its Eastern European operations; in 1995, he assumed responsibility for the U.S. subsidiary. Since 2003, he has held overall responsibility for the Group at its Tübingen location. In addition, he served as president of the Reutlingen Chamber of Industry and Commerce for 15 years and as president of the Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Industry and Commerce from 2022 to 2024.
Furthermore, he is Chairman of the Professional Association for Electromedical Technology within the Association of the Electrical and Digital Industry, Chairman of the Committee for Industrial Healthcare within the Federation of German Industries (BDI), and Vice Chairman of the German Society for Biomedical Engineering (DGBMT within the VDE). He is also Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Max Planck Institutes in Tübingen and Chairman of the University Council at Reutlingen University.
Christian Otto Erbe was named an Honorary Senator of the University of Tübingen and received the Economic Medal of the State of Baden-Württemberg as well as the Reinhold Maier Medal for his commitment to liberal democratic values.
