With its proposal for a Chips Act 2.0, published on 3 June 2026, the European Commission aims to take European semiconductor policy to the next level. Unlike the first Chips Act, the primary focus this time is not on building additional production capacity. The Commission is pursuing a more comprehensive approach designed to link research, innovation, demand, investment and security of supply more closely.
