The New Legislative Framework (NLF) is one of the EU’s most successful and influential regulatory systems. It forms the central regulatory framework for placing industrial products on the EU market and thus constitutes the foundation for the free movement of goods within the European Single Market. However, since its introduction in 2008, the product landscape has changed fundamentally. This opens up the opportunity to modernise the legal framework in a targeted manner—without abandoning its proven core principles—in order to adapt the system to current and future challenges.
