The Executive Board of the Federal Association consists of the President and the Vice Presidents, as well as the chairs of the member associations or, in their place, one other member of their association’s executive board whom they have permanently appointed to serve in their stead.

The Executive Board is responsible for all matters concerning the Federal Association, unless such matters are reserved for other bodies by law or by the bylaws. In particular, it adopts resolutions regarding the guidelines for the work of the BDI. It has the right to instruct the BDI’s governing bodies to address tasks it deems essential and may establish standing and non-standing committees for specific tasks, as well as determine their composition.

The Executive Board must ensure that the work of the committees is consistent with the general objectives of the BDI and, in doing so, must take into account cooperation with other leading business organizations. The Executive Board elects from among its members—or, only in exceptional cases and only with the consent of the chairperson of a member association of the Federal Association—from among the companies belonging to that association — 15 members of the Presidium, 6 of whom shall be selected from among those member associations that were not represented on the Presidium during the previous term of office. To the extent that those elected are members of the Executive Board, they shall not be removed from it as a result of their election.
