The Union United. Sovereignty in the New Era of Trade Policy Escalation

Europe’s greatest strengths and weaknesses are two sides of the same coin. As a continent of diverse polities, societies, and economies, each member state brings its specific capacities and potential to the table. In times of crisis and in times of stability, the European Union has shown its ability to forge these assets together and bring its combined weight into the bargain. On the other hand, Europe has also proved vulnerable to division and deadlock. Cooperation and pan-European empathy are key to forestall any outside attempt to divide and rule. The will to ‘Think European’ must prove itself in trade policy, defense, the development of the internal market and much more. What is the common ground of European business leaders, and what do they expect from policy makers?
