Stefanie Bürkle
Stefanie Bürkle (56) combines experience in local politics with a career in state administration. After completing her legal clerkship at the Ravensburg Regional Court, this law graduate (from the University of Tübingen) laid the foundation for her career as a civil servant for the state of Baden-Württemberg.
Her career has taken her through key hubs of state politics and administration, including the Tübingen Regional Council and the Ministry of the Environment, Climate, and Energy in Stuttgart. As the first female state civil servant at the Biberach District Office, she was responsible for complex areas such as building law, pollution control, and gravel extraction before being elected District Administrator of Sigmaringen District in 2014—a position she has held ever since.
In addition to her work as District Administrator, Stefanie Bürkle contributes her expertise to numerous strategically important bodies. Among other roles, she is a member of the Supervisory Board of EnBW, Chair of the Oberschwäbische Elektrizitätswerke (OEW) Special-Purpose Association, and chairs the Boards of Directors of the Hohenzollerische Landesbank Kreissparkasse Sigmaringen and the SRH Clinics of the district. She also helps shape the future at the federal level, for example as a member of the BDI’s expert group on state modernization.
In her private life, Stefanie Bürkle is firmly rooted in a “mayor’s family”: the married mother of two sons shares her passion for local politics with her husband and sons, who have also served or are currently serving as mayors.
