Recommendations to accelerate the roll-out of charging and refuelling infrastructure in the EU

The switch to alternative drives and fuels requires charging and refuelling infrastructure that meets demand across the EU. The planned revision of the EU’s AFIR must aim to accelerate the roll-out and improve monitoring for all modes of transport. More ambitious targets are needed for electric and hydrogen trucks. An additional provision – a ‘sunrise clause’ – should ensure a basic level of infrastructure in countries with a low share of EVs.
