The European Commission has proposed the introduction of a digital wallet for businesses. BDI welcomes this initiative, as the EU Business Wallet can help deepen the digital single market and reduce regulatory burden.

Regulation to establish EU Business Wallets
The European Commission’s proposal for the establishment of EU Business Wallets (EBW) is a significant milestone for enhancing trust through authentication in Business-to-Business and Business-to-Government interactions. However, the EBW will only strengthen the digital single market if it replaces existing national solutions and is not introduced in addition to them. BDI proposes targeted amendments that will ensure that the regulation’s goals can be reached.

Die nächste Bundesregierung muss zwingend gemeinsam mit den Ländern die Verwaltungsmodernisierung vorantreiben. Effiziente, bürokratiearme und Ende-zu-Ende digitalisierte Verwaltungsverfahren sind Grundvoraussetzung für eine verbesserte Funktionsfähigkeit des Staates, mehr Vertrauen der Öffentlichkeit in die Behörden sowie ein entscheidender Standortfaktor.
