The AI Omnibus, the Data Omnibus, the Digital Networks Act and the Cybersecurity Package are a first necessary step to simplify the EU’s digital rulebook. However, more needs to be done to reduce the regulatory burden and to support Europe’s ability to foster innovation and enhance global competitiveness. Thus, the European Commission should continue its simplification agenda and propose targeted amendments to the EU’s digital acquis.

Digitaler Produktpass als Teil der Sustainable Product Strategy der Europäischen Kommission

Bilanzierung von Treibhausgasemissionen von Verkehrsdienstleistungen
Die Europäische Kommission plant mit der CountEmissions EU eine einheitliche Methodik für die Berechnung von Treibhausgasemissionen im Güter- und den Personenverkehr zu implementieren. Der BDI begrüßt diese Initiative. Damit CountEmissions EU Transparenz für Verkehrsdienstleister und ihre Kunden schaffen kann, braucht es wirksame Anreize, Technologieoffenheit sowie eine europäische und weltweite Harmonisierung in einem freiwilligen System.
Überarbeitung des Zollkodex der Union
Im Mai legte die Europäische Kommission einen Vorschlag zur Revision des Unionszollkodex vor. Aus Sicht des BDI enthält dieser eine Reihe wichtiger und richtiger Ansätze, die teils schon lange gefordert werden. Die Revision muss spürbare Vereinfachungen für die Wirtschaftsbeteiligten bringen und Fortschritte beim Bürokratieabbau und der Digitalisierung erzielen.
Strategie für Wirtschaftssicherheit
Die Strategie für Wirtschaftssicherheit der Europäischen Kommission fokussiert sich derzeit stark auf Handelskontrollen. Um den Auswirkungen von Handelskontrollen vollumfänglich zu begegnen und mit dem Umbau ganzer Lieferketten chancenorientiert umzugehen, fordert der BDI eine positivere Ausrichtung der Strategie. Eine positivere Handelsagenda würde Handelskontrollen, deren Kosten und eine zur Diversifizierung europäischer Interdependenz dringend notwendige Marktöffnung integriert zusammendenken.
Europe on Its Way to Becoming a Leader in Circularity for Packaging
For years, the European Union (EU) has seen an increase in the absolute volume of packaging waste. In 2020, for example, approximately 79 million metric tons of packaging waste were generated, which corresponds to about 177 kg per capita. According to the Commission, without additional policy measures, there will be a further 19 percent increase by 2030. The goal is now to reverse this trend.
BDI zum Vorschlag der Kommission zur Wasserverschmutzung
Die EU verhandelt zeitnah im Trilog über den Entwurf zur Novellierung der EU-Kommunalabwasserrichtlinie (UWWTD), in welchem die erweiterte Herstellerverantwortung im Wasserrecht für Human-Arzneimittel- und Kosmetikbranch eingeführt wird. Damit soll die so. vierte Reinigungsstufe finanziert werden, welche Spurenstoffe, beispielsweise Arzneimittel, Wasch- und Reinigungsmittel, Kosmetika und Biozide eliminiert.
“Seville Process”: EU-wide Standards for Industrial Facilities
The EU’s goal is to establish uniform standards across Europe and to enable fair competition among member states. Uniform requirements for emission reductions from industrial facilities are developed through the “Seville Process.” It is so named because the coordinating body is based in Seville.
