This event will explore whether and how the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and similar instruments promote the uptake of mitigation solutions in global energy-intensive industries. The discussion will focus on the potential of CBAM in preventing carbon leakage within the EU and aligning global efforts through cooperative frameworks. We will discuss how to advance the development and implementation of carbon pricing systems globally, with the aim of fostering international cooperation to move closer to a level playing field. The transition to a net-zero economy requires the global competitiveness of companies for successfully rolling out low- and zero-emission products and manufacturing processes.

Montag, 18. Nov. 12:00 bis 13:30 Uhr (UTC+4)‎

Without doubt the transformation to climate neutrality offers new growth opportunities and markets. However, it must also be acknowledged that growth momentum in most industrialized countries in Europe has slowed and that German industry in particular is facing several challenges. To reach the goals under the Paris Agreement, it is therefore necessary to turn climate protection into a business case, not only in Germany and Europe but globally. How can we ensure a successful transformation that reaps benefits for all andleads to a just transition?
