The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has established a global framework for managing aircraft noise at airports through the Balanced Approach. It provides the foundation for an harmonised and evidence-based management of aircraft noise. However, the practical implementation in Europe shows an imbalance to the detriment of economic interests.
