Peter Platzer is Executive Chair, Founder, and former CEO of Spire Global, Inc. (NYSE: SPIR), a leading global provider of satellite-based data and analytics services.

Under his leadership, the company developed and operates one of the world’s largest commercial multi-purpose nanosatellite constellations. Since taking Spire public in 2021, he has driven exponential success through visionary leadership and an innovation-driven growth strategy – tripling revenue, significantly expanding market share, and securing 11 U.S. patents in nanosatellite technology addressing global challenges such as climate adaptation, supply chain resilience, and international security.

With more than 30 years of international experience across Europe, Asia, and the United States, Peter began his career as a high-energy and fusion physicist at CERN and the Max Planck Institute. He later advised leading financial and energy companies as a consultant with the Boston Consulting Group before managing quantitative trading strategies for hedge funds on Wall Street. By founding Spire and developing it into the world’s fourth-largest commercial satellite constellation operator, he combined deep expertise in technology, finance, leadership, and capital markets.

In addition to serving as Chairman of Spire’s Board, he sits on numerous other boards, supporting companies in optimizing product–market fit, solving technological and financial challenges, and managing rapid people growth.
