Wolfgang Niedermark studied economic and social geography, international law, political science and economics in Münster. From 1994 he worked as Regional Manager at the Ostasiatischer Verein e. V. in Hamburg, and from 1996 as Managing Director of the Australien-Neuseeland Verein e. V. in Hamburg. At the same time, he took over the position of Managing Director of the Ostasiatischer Verein e. V. in Hamburg in 1998 and thus also became a member of the management of the Asia-Pacific Committee of German Business (APA) in Berlin.
In 2003, Niedermark became a member of the management board of Heinrich Bauer Ost Marketing in Hamburg, a subsidiary of the publishing house. He was responsible for business development in Asia-Pacific and the operational unit in Shanghai. Two years later, he was appointed Managing Director of the German-Korean Chamber of Industry and Commerce (South Korean Chamber of Commerce Abroad) in Seoul.
From 2006, he worked for BASF AG (now BASF SE), initially as a member of the Chairman's staff and from 2009 as head of the Berlin office, for which he was responsible as the company's political representative until 2015.
Niedermark has headed the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce since 2016. As a delegate of the German business community, he is also a member of the management board and Asia coordinator of the APA.
